Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

According to Barna Research:

“For years, church leaders have heard the claim that nearly nine out of ten Christians accept Jesus as their savior before the age of 18. If that statistic was accurate in the past, it no longer depicts U.S. society. The current Barna study indicates that nearly half of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as their savior do so before reaching the age of 13 (43%), and that two out of three born again Christians (64%) made that commitment to Christ before their 18th birthday…”

How important are our ministries to children and students to Jesus and the life of the church?  Well imagine 2/3 of our adult members missing this weekend.  Then imagine the next generation missing 2/3 of our current members, etc…  It would not take long before the church and the big “C” church becomes non-existent.  One of the greatest dangers our church and every church faces is not reaching the next generation.

I am so thankful that parents trust us to minister to their children. These kids are precious.  They teach us as much as we teach them.  I also am ever mindful of the work of so many of our members as  they serve, teach and lead these children.  In the past few weeks I have had the honor of talking to several of our children about their faith in Christ and desire to be baptized.  And what a blessing to know that their parents work and lead in Sunday school and AWANA.  Those two ministries combined with the focused weeks of VBS and Mission Adventure Camp have helped our children know the Word and the Way of the Lord so that their hearts are ready at a young age to receive Christ.

Thank you for not only letting the little kids come to Jesus, but for actively leading them to their Savior!
